Thank you so much for the great response to the launch of our #GivingTuesday campaign last week. We are on track to reach our goal!
In spite of having to “STAY HOME”, the continuity of our programs is more important than ever. Here are some of the important work we’re doing remotely to continue to support this growing need.
Please help us to continue to help those who are vulnerable in our community.
CHURCH APARTMENT PROGRAM
Our CAP program provides housing and social support for those living with mental health issues.
Our CAP workers are on the phone every day checking in with our residents, reminding them of government protocol, social distancing, hand washing and only going out when necessary. We make sure they are good with groceries and medication, and support them with mental health issues.
RENDEZ-VOUS ARTS
RVA is an art program that provides those with special challenges an opportunity to work with the support of a volunteer instructor.
RVA continues to support its program by sending art supplies directly to participants who normally come to our office for class. Every Tuesday at 1:00 pm, we have an RVA coach present a new video paint challenge that is open to anyone, and not just the regular RVA participants!
MATCHING
The program is designed to improve the quality of life and defend the rights of the vulnerable in our community by matching them with competent volunteers.
Our matching program has transitioned temporarily into a “Distant Matching” program to offer social support to those who are vulnerable in our community. Our community workers work remotely to create matches, recruit new volunteers, and make referrals for services from other community organizations. We are also continuing to advocate for seniors in the best way we can despite not being able to visit them in person.
