Giving Tuesday: Margaret’s Struggles

Thank you so much for the continued support of our Giving Tuesday campaign.  We are past the halfway mark!

A daily phone call from Natasha, a Community Worker at WICA, is the only thing that gets Margaret through the day.  Living at a senior residence, Margaret fears for her life amidst the Covid-19 pandemic and is concerned about her wellbeing.

“She’s a sweet elderly lady who is isolated and bedridden”, says Natasha. “She calls for help on a regular basis as she has no family or other support system. She is constantly in pain and she claims to have trouble receiving regular basic necessities.”

These difficult times are especially tough on isolated seniors, and having someone to turn to is crucial for mental health. West Island Citizen Advocacy continues to advocate for people like Margaret to improve her quality of life, especially during this time of crisis.

Margaret has been a protégé at WICA for the past 3 years, but the need for support has increased significantly since the onset of Covid-19. “We strive to answer every single call for help that we receive,” claims Natasha. ”It’s incredible to experience the difference a call can make in the life of someone who feels scared and alone.”

Our Community Workers are working hard to recruit volunteers, make new matches, and make sure that we reach every vulnerable person who needs our services.

Please help us continue our mission by making a donation through our Giving Tuesday Campaign.
